ABOUT BUSHRA NABAS

Bushra Nabas currently serves as a Board Member and Treasurer General for ICOMOS Jordan, contributing to governance, advocacy, outreach, and capacity building. Bushra has had a distinguished tenure as the National Focal Point for Cultural World Heritage and Head of the World Heritage Section at the Department of Antiquities of Jordan. In this role, she managed Jordan’s six World Heritage sites and sites on the Tentative List, ensuring their preservation and development. She played a key role in drafting and reviewing UNESCO World Heritage Nomination dossiers and State of Conservation Reports. Bushra’s also initiated the establishment of a new World Heritage Directorate at the DoA, she also successfully coordinated the ICOMOS Evaluation mission for the Umm Al-Jimāl World Heritage nomination dossier and managed the “Urgent Mitigation Measures in Um er-Rasas- Mefa’a” project to protect the site from illegal excavations. In addition to her work at the Department of Antiquities, Bushra is an accomplished guest lecturer and trainer, having taught at the University of Jordan, Ammon Applied University College, and Brandenburg Technical University in Germany. She has actively participated in over 20 international conferences and workshops, presenting on various heritage management topics. Bushra holds a joint master’s degree in Heritage Conservation and Site Management from Brandenburg Technical University and Helwan University, and a bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering from The University of Jordan. She is an Honorary member of The World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Culture legacy of Uzbekistan.
